This is is the public display part. Historically speaking, this is the real deal.

The "Mile Long (railroad) Tunnel" - located in Pequabuck - Terryville - Plymouth, Connecticut
It's actually 3580 feet (.68 miles) long and was in its hey-day in the early 1900s.
Back in the day - it was used to carry passenger and freight traffic between New Haven / Hartford and Waterbury / Danbury, CT and NY.

It's probably the best museum you never heard of.

Now, there is zero passenger traffic, but it is still used on a limited basis for freight.
Among several generations of youth, the lore of horror and monster stories abound.
On a dare, simply walking all the way through by yourself was / is a big deal. Trust me !
From Sept. 1921 to June 1959, it was Bristol High School in Connecticut.
Then, in September 1959, Bristol became a town with two public high schools.
From September 1959 to June 1967, this building was Bristol Central High School.
In September 1967, BCHS moved to a new building and this one became a middle school.
That's Memorial Boulevard School to be exact. Then, in June 2012, MBS was shut.
The middle schoolers were sent to newer buildings.
And sadly, this incredible history-filled building has sat empty ever since. But wait.......
The good news is that any month now, construction will begin on MBIAMS !
Memorial Boulevard Intradistrict Arts Magnet School will open in 2022 !
Spend nearly 10 hours photographing inside an abandoned theater and.......
.......you can almost hear / see the performances and the well-deserved applause.

Sandy Beach in Morris, CT is one of the best kept secrets on Bantam Lake.
Most of the land on Bantam Lake is not developed and was donated by the White Family.
I know...I could have chosen a better photo...urgh !
Returning to Sandy Beach (open to the public) don't be thrown off by these photos.
